WELCOME TO BAR M HEREFORDS
The Bar M brand was first used on shorthorn cattle by F.W. Irwin on his ranch near Newport NE. F.W purchased the brand in 1940 and proudly displayed it on the door of the main barn of the ranch. After the death of F.W, his son Bud kept the brand in the family until his daughter Karla and son-in-law Rich purchased a small herd of purebred herefords in 1989. Today the brand has become synonymous with quality hereford cattle and also the integrity and honesty of the family behind them.

Rich and Karla have begun to transfer leadership of the program to their son Austin and his wife Sarah. Austin and Sarah purchased a home and land 2 miles from the headquarters and have become full partners in the operation.
The Bar M cowherd consists of mostly horned hereford genetics. This solid maternal cow base is then mated to phenotypically correct bulls to produce an excellent calf with show ring appeal and real world practicality.
